The Unsung Everyday Heroes
Rescuing America's Cities

One person. One earth-shaking idea. Can
the average person really make a difference?

Absolutely! Fascinating grassroots innovators, from businessmen to teenagers and housewives to the clergy are tackling crime, welfare dependency, and housing shortages. They've given up high-paying jobs, personal lives, and even personal safety to lift up their fellow human beings.

This trend, still much below the radar of the mainstream media, began in the early eighties
but has been growing even stronger in the new millennium. A 50-year stretch of ineffective social programs has motivated unsung citizen heroes to challenge the conventional wisdom and apply a new tact to societal decay. Their unique inventions are even “civic-franchising” into other communities and saving American taxpayers billions!

Debra Berg lauds 35 founders and their 26 social cures guaranteed to surprise and inspire.

"The tales of so many individuals who are taking the initiative to address difficult issues...are awe-inspiring."

About the Author

Debra Berg has uncovered the “New Civic America” and she wants to share it with you! Her entrepreneurial experience combined with a background in public service formed her vision for the far-reaching impact of the amazing social cures being invented by America's everyday citizen-heroes.

Debra is a graduate of the University of Illinois. Recognized as a Charles E. Merriam Scholar, she launched her public policy career during the Watergate hearings and became one of the few women employed by state legislative staffs in the `70's and `80's. After holding positions in three states as a budget analyst and as a social welfare author/researcher, Minnesota's largest HMO and three other corporations recruited her for her financial skills.

Following that, Debra turned entrepreneur and launched an international marketing business where she crossed paths with two fascinating Romanians who gave her a new perspective on democracy. Since then, she's reinvested her knowledge in a better civil society through a national speaking and research effort, a book, a radio show on VoiceAmerica.com, and an educational web site, www.powerone.org.
