WiredSafety was formed in 1995 to do one thing, to help people who need help online. Whether you're being cyber-stalked, harassed or defrauded, find child pornography or cyber-predators; even if you just want to learn how to use the Internet better or have questions about how things work, we can help.

Civic Entrepreneurs and 9/11

This page is a tribute to civic entrepreneur, Parry Aftab, and those of the WiredSafety worldwide volunteer force of over 10,000 individuals who went beyond their normal duties for the September 11 victims' families.

A WiredSafety volunteer in England worked day and night to provide communication/location services for family members trying to locate 9/11 victims at and around "ground zero" in New York and at the Pentagon.

WiredSafety volunteers donated Internet service to families who needed access to the survivors lists and other crucial information.

WiredSafety paired volunteers, police, and firefighters with victims' family members to assist them through the difficult time of searching for their loved ones.

Wired Safety is the most experienced organization on cybercrime in the United States. Currently, the U.S. is the only country that does not fund organizations like Wired Safety and does not have a cohesive national strategy for cybercrime. It is the largest volunteer organization of its kind in the world and is in the process of working at the highest levels of government to train law enforcement personnel how to apply their techniques for combatting child pornography, cyberstalking, and cyberpredators.

Parry Aftab, the executive director and founder, is a former corporate merger attorney and is now an international Internet legal expert in the area of cybercrime and cyber education.
