Finding a News Angle for Your Fundraising Event
Think "outside of the box" for all the publicity angles you can implement for your nonprofit.  What are the attributes of your organization and specific events. Look at them from the point of view of every section of the newspaper or newscast. Modify your basic press release to suit the content of appropriate magazine section editors, producers of radio show features, and TV newsrooms.
A few possibilities include:
Entertainment section coverage of your performers at an event.
Business section coverage of your event chair or honoree.
Health advice connected to your event, such as dietary preparation for a 10K run.
Radio broadcast of your guest speaker's speech.
Free tickets to your event as prizes for radio station giveaways.
You can even invite local weather or traffic reporters to cover conditions from your location as a novel way to draw attention to your outdoor event.
